Carpet in general is unsanitary. Unless you are shampooing it every day, bacteria hides in the fibers.

An infant living in hazardous and poor conditions is more than enough reason for them to call CPS.

Did you swab it for a culture? All you know is what she described on here. If someone swabbed your carpet I bet you'd be pretty stunned to see what's hiding.

If I described my child's living conditions like she did on here, I wouldn't by surprised, in the least, if CPS was called on me. If it wasnt as bad as described by her, she has nothing to worry about. However, cat piss soaked carpet being so disgusting that you can not put your child on the floor is alarming. My carpet may not be shampooed everyday, but I can let my child on the floor without worrying about cat piss getting all over him.

I did not call, but I do not blame those who did the least bit. Sorry you don't feel that way.

I am sure she loves her daughter, but I believe that household, as a whole, is more concerned with their animal's welfare.
