Let's talk OCD, let's talk about you & me :)

Hello ladies  

So, for those of you that have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)....
what are the things you stay doing? As in counting, repeated thoughts,feelings, ideas and the go around. If you have OCD you know what I mean.

If you want to add that you see someone or take meds for OCD you can do that as well. I will say I have it and do see a doc for it and take medicine to control it...for the most part.Just was curious, as to how many other ladies are open about their OCD issues.

My biggest issues with OCD are doors being locked, my car being locked, I vacuum at least once a day(have to see lines in carpet), I fold a certain way. And some more, but those are my major issues ATM. And by the way... my husband can't stand it. But, enjoys the perfect clean home forsure.

I think I have OCD and so does my mom but I've never been diagnosed.

I have recurring thoughts about decisions I've made. Like what I fed my son, the way I did something and whether or not it will " screw him up", stuff line that that is so situation specific its hard to come up with examples. But it's all the time. Sometimes I'll think these thoughts and have to say them out loud to someone. I don't worry about myself getting sick, but when I go out in public I use hand sanitizer

I thought I had OCD but turns out it was a way more specific thing called dermatillomania . I can't stand to see things under skin like ingrown hairs, black heads, zits, etc. Drives me up the smurfing wall.

I'm a crazy hand washer. The making your son sick maybe some type of little anxiety issue.

Ugh I keep posting before I'm done!!

Anyway I use hand sanitizer on my son and I all the time and ask my mom alot, "do you think he'll get sick from this or that?"

The one thing that really worries me is that when I eat, especially something like yogurt or ice cream, but I do it with everything...I take a bite and swish it from one side of my mouth to the other seven times. Yep. Then I do this twice on both sides until I've swished a total of 28 times. And I have to do this even when I don't want to.

After typing this out I realize I really do have OCD. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of dr do you see and what meds do you take? Does it help?

I like look for ingrown hairs on my legs even though I shave daily(OCD) ....and I pull the ones out that look like ingrown tiny hairs. I also have this thing where I pick the skin all around my nails for no reason. My husband can't stand that, bc I do it at night in bed.

Oh and I pick my face alot but I've always considered that just a bad habit.

Oh yea, I'm not a doctor but you def sound like you do!! Well, my issue is more things I have also. But, I take Lexapro 10mg and Xanax 3x a day. It does help ALOT! Like I used to also freak out about my flat iron and think it was on after leaving home even after I say to myself"Its off" .... I will drive all the way down the road and turn around to come back and check it. I'm the same way with the doors in my house. I check them constantly. All that has improved since the meds though.

I also am bipolar and take lamictal at night with trazodone and those both keep me level headed and help as well.

I don't pick my face, I pluck the hairs on my chin daily though,even though they are blonde. I also pick scabs. Like if I get a bug bite and its there a few days, I pick and pick them and then get scars.

Thanks. I guess mine isn't so much actions ( besides the eating thing) but more compulsive thoughts. It's so bad that I'm afraid to make decisions because ill regret no matter what I choose. I even let my toddler choose his clothes sometimes just because ill beat myself up thinking I picked something inappropriate.

*I tap things... Like when I'm at check out stand and I put stuff on belt,i tap it as many times as it cost...

* im paranoid that I will never have enough money... I have to carry extra money in my walet just in case...

* am nervous in car, everytime we drive thru intersection I have to close mt eyes I feel like we are going to get hit, sometimes I can see our in my head, so I wait for it to happen, or to make it to other side

*certain textures bother me... I can't look at them or see them or I get itchy and few times I well throw up (fish scales, sponges, honey combs)

*i can't use silver ware or glasses, smells weird to me I can't stand it

*i cant use a restroom unless it smells like a cleaner, I hate the
smell of water...
Theres alot of lil things I do, that have to be done certain way

some of those sound like anxiety triggers as well. I have bad anxiety and have some of the things you listed.

Ive done that since I was three. Sometimes its so bad that I end up picking the skin on my finger pad

I'm not sure if this is OCD. I haven't been diagnosed or anything but my family and husband think I have it. It's mainly has to do with cleaning. I vacuum 1-3 times a day because I feel the carpet is only clean if it has the lines. I can't stand having dirty dishes in the sink (even if there is just a spoon in there) and they have to be placed in the dishwasher in the correct spot. I can't stand stray hairs. I am constantly wiping the counters in the bathroom after DH shaves or trims his beard. I fold everyones underwear. The closet where the clothes are hung up are organized and separated by color. I do have anxiety really bad. If none of it is done or done correctly, I start biting all my nails off. I also can't stand clothes on the floor. The bed has to be made every morning. Uhm.... I'm trying to think of other things... Oh I don't like odd numbers. I'm terrified my son will be born on a odd number day. Fml. I feel like a crazy person now.
