Please tell me this is okay and normal? And wtf??

posted 6th Feb
I am 36 weeks on friday. They did my group b strep test today, and checked me for dilation. And oh my god I hurt so bad right now!! I am in serious pain, all through my lower back and I am cramping like freaking crazy too! I am not dilated or effaced, so I know these aren't contractions, also since my belly isn't even tightening. The pain is just consistent ever since he did it like 2 hours ago. Am I being crazy having this pain, or is this normal? Oh and get this, my doctor is really nice and all...but today he told me that since I will be 36 weeks it's ok to start trying to induce labor, that if I want to go into labor soon and I do self induction stuff its PERFECTLY fine with him. I told him...um I want my little boy to bake longer, that i don't even want him to try to come on his own until 37 weeks, but if I can have him all the way until 40 I will be happier. He looked at me all surprised, and just shrugged and said ok, just letting you know it's ok if you want to start. I was pretty shocked I don't want my baby coming now, my due date could be off by 2 weeks (I doubt it, but it could). If he comes early I hope it's not even before 39 weeks because then I'd at least be term ya know? But anyway is my issue normal?

Yup. He irritated the cervix by checking it. If you don't want him doing it anymore, just tell him. It isn't necessary to check anyways unless you are in labor.

It's normal to feel uncomfortable after a pelvic exam, if that is what you're asking.

He told me as soon as I am 36 week I can go ahead and induce labor. Butttt what if my due date is really off by 2 weeks. I was so surprised.

You don't have to be effaced or dilated to have contractions. SO yes everything is normal

Your doctor probably just meant if you want to get a jump start on things... like sex, walking, bouncing on the ball, ect...

But really, IMO, those things won't induce labor unless your body is ready anyhow.
