What do you have in common

What is something that you have in common with a lot of people? Like, what can you bring up to make small talk and connect with other people?

For example, a lot of people use music, or "in" tv shows (walking dead, american horror story, etc.) and I don't follow much of either. I just don't know how to relate to people anymore.

nothing. lol. I'm crap at talking to people. My boyfriend is the only person i've ever met that i've been able to connect with. we have everything in common.

Now i have a baby i suppose i can talk about baby stuff to make conversation if i have to. lol.

Edit - I'm good at talking on line to people though. Just crap in person. lol.

children, pets i don't know what else.

Food LOL. Music, schooling, being a military wife, shopping. I'm one of those people who never make a situation awkward.

Kids. And t.v. And Christianity. That's really the main things I talk about lol. I only have like, 3 friends, and the friend I have without kids, well, we don't talk much because it gets a little awkward lol.

I can't really see myself talking about those.. Food, I'm overweight so I don't want to bring THAT up, and say if I'm out like at a bar, no one wants to talk about my kid! lol Talking about my kid is fine when I'm talking to people WITH kids, but otherwise, no one is interested.

Yes, see! No one I know has kids. All I have to talk about is school (i'm taking classes), or my kid. Neither are interesting to people who aren't and don't have any.

Doesn't seem like it. I've been trying to reinvent myself. I haven't really known myself or LOVED to do something since middle school.

I think you're being to hard on yourself, I'm sure there's things you're interested in, but because you're so used to them being part of your daily life you can't think of them

I could maybe do the drink thing. I go out maaaaybe once a month for a night out, sometimes less, sometimes more, but never know how to make small talk with anyone other than the 1 person I'm with. She has a boyfriend now who ends up there most times so sometimes during the night I have to fend for myself and I'm awkward!

I don't know much about music anymore and I'm not really into the music that plays in the dive bars we go to. I don't like faking so i choose just not to say anything about it at all.
