re: Starting a war over the guns being banned (D&D)

I heard a couple of my friends at school bitching about how people wouldn't be able to sell guns at gun shows anymore without background checks. As if that's a bad thing. It's not like they're selling jewelry or cupcakes or something. These are guns, for smurfs sake.

Meh. I think there have always been crazy conspiracy theorists. Instead of sandwich boards on corners, they now have blogs and youtube channel. This doesn't make them any more legitimate, but it does make people think their opinions are worth more then they used to be.

Where I came from, I see a lot of my old friends have become preppers. Not just, food and water "in case" type, but the "I need an arsenal of guns and meds because the government is coming to kill us all" type.

I think some measure of gun control is a good thing. I do not think they should be banned, but I don't think that is what people are trying to do either. Also, anyone who thinks a few rifles is going to keep you safe from the tanks/missile launchers/heavy artillery that our military is in possession of, should they choose to turn it against the people, are delusional. You're couple of shotguns aren't going to do a whole lot, and I think they're a false sense of security.

I think we need to overhaul our government, but it needs to be done by some people with some damn sense. I was joking with my friend in Canada that we need to ask England to take us back, heh.

I totally told SO if this smurf actually did happen I would be grabbing my kids and going to England  
He didn't like that very much. I guess I'm not patriotic enough

!!!! I am a gun owner and I have no problem with a background check. I have nothing to hide, nor do I need a gun right then. I think that may shut down a lot of gun shows, b/c a normal background check takes no time at all. A universal check may take weeks.

My husband gets pissy too when I discuss these things with people who have a more realistic opinion. Hence why politics are off-limits now. Too many fights that always lead to religion because my husband believes Obama is the Antichrist

Don't feel bad, my husband and I got into a huge argument over this right after the Sandy Hook shooting. I can't even have a logical discussion with him about it b/c he gets so freaking defensive!
