4 year needles...

Did not go as planned. the assessment she passed with flying colors. She is in 20th percentile for weight but nurse said her weight compared to her height she's basically perfect because she's very petite. No concerns with her eyes or ears and she said her fine motor skills are very advanced for her age. Awesome. Really happy about all that. The needle part not so much. She was supposed to get 2.. a booster and one for chicken pox but I'm so big being 34 weeks pregnant it was hard to hold her properly and when she got the first one she jerked a bit. Then when it came time for the second one she took such a screaming and crying fit that she gave herself a massive nosebleed. Even the nurse said she wwas losing quite a bit of blood and decided against the other needle and even suggested that I might have to get the blood vessels in her nose cauterized. so now instead of gettingit all done today we have to go back in april for the oother one. Needless to say it hasn't been a good morning thus far and I got one awful upset little girl on my hands.

I am not sure why kids are scared of needles. lol
My kids love needles. My dd turned 4 in July and loved getting her needles. thats all the do here at the 4 yr one, they dont go over any other stuff, eyes are done at the eye dr etc....
Well my oldset gets nose bleeds when upset, its nothing, normal in a lot of kids. Probably runs in your family somewhere on either side, it does in ours.

Oh wow I'm sorry it was so stressful! DD1 just had her 4 year check up a month ago and she was upset too, what I did to calm her down was tell her if she calmed down she would get Mc. D's afterwards, lol. It did work. She still cried getting the shots but I think without the instentive(sp?) to try to calm down it would have been way worst. As soon as they were done she stopped crying and said "Now we're going to McDonalds?" lol.

I tried that. Itold her when we got home she could have a piece of cake lol. She ended up wanting cereal instead. I tried explaining to her beforehand. What was going to happen and I told her it was going to hurt a little but she needed them to go to schooland she was aall excited. She was right on board for it until she got tthe first one.
