That's why I don't understand why it's okay to spank your kids.

If you strike another adult, its assault.

But striking a helpless child less than half your size is alright and totally legal. As long as you felt they did something that warranted them being hit.

I have never, ever heard of an assault case where someone smacked another adult on the ass without force or leaving a mark. It's highly unlikely and IMO, ridiculous to call that "assault."

I am sure she is talking about if he did it out of anger to punish etc....and not out of husband and wife playfulness.

In that situation her spouse would be using physical force to take out his anger on her. That is never okay, and that's not how spanking should be done.

Yes I agree. 100%
But I think she protrays spanking altogether as in trhat situation. A lot of ppl do. I dont spank us, but dont care if others do, and if I see someone spank in an abusive way I will tell them that, they are doing it wrong.

I know someone who spanked out of anger and frustration all the time, its not right in that sort of way.

Any form of anger at your kids is harmful. I'm sure we're all guilty of it occasionally, maybe not with spanking but with yelling, ect. but to do it on a regular basis is not okay.

I can understand why it's such a hot topic but it really should be one of those "mind your own" type deals. If you're against spanking, don't do it, period. Don't call people child-abusers because you don't agree with their choice of discipline. [Not talking about you or anyone in this thread - just in general lol].
