letting your baby stand

When is it safe to let your baby stand and put pressure on their legs/hips i have heard it can be bad for them early on but my son is 7 weeks and is already fighting us to try and stand so he can look around. I didn't think it would be like this that soon but i guess i was wrong :/

I was taking some early childhood classes and its important for development to not put your baby in a position they can't get in themselves, so if he can't pull himself up on something and stand then I wouldn't stand him up.

You let them bare weight from whenever they physically can, my son bared weight instantly after birth, had full head control and was looking around at everything right away.

If you feel he can do it, give it a go.

But be careful their little legs tire quickly

i don't mean standing him up by himself i just mean while he hold him up facing us he trys to bounce and stand. my mother yelled at me saying it was bad for his hips but it's a battle to keep him from doing it.

oh well if you can't prevent him from doing it his body can obviously handle it, its not like your forcing him to bounce so its fine. I wouldn't promote it but if he can do it on his own then I don't see how that would be harming him

I stood my little boy on me from about the same.point! He loved it!! He hit all.developmental milestones with regards to hips (crawling,standig and walkong) He now is running around everywhere at 14 months. They oike to look around, don't panic about it just do what you're baby wants and what feels right   x
