water before bed

This might be extremely stupid but my friend said she doesn't give her child any liquid before bed and I have never heard of this lol. This seems really weird to me. I give my son a small amount of sleepy time tea or water and he seems to be doing just fine. He is mostly potty trained to. Is this a common thing? Should I start doing this?

It kinda seems mean. What if he gets thirsty?

i don't think it's that strange. i know lots who don't allow their kids to have anything after a certain time. my parents had to do this with me because i had a bed wetting problem.

I'd just keep doing what you're doing if it seems to work for you. Don't just stop giving your kid water before bed because that's what your friend does... that's kind of a dumb reason....

A lot of parents stop drinks before bed to try and prevent bed wetting. Most of the people I know who do this will give their kids a few sips of water if they end up being thirsty, just not a whole glass or large amount.

I can't stand hearing about parents that restrict their child's fluids before bed. My housemate doesn't give her kids any liquids after 5pm or 'they will wet the bed'
It's so horrible.

I personally feel that they aren't properly ready for night-time toilet training if you have to limit fluids just to have them not wet the bed

See that is what I was wondering about! I was more wondering about the whole being thirsty thing. XD I didn't know if they refused to let them have any or what.

We have to do this with our almost 5 year old or else he will wet the bed. I sometimes let him have some water but usually when I do he ends up wetting the bed.

That is kind of what I was thinking. Honestly. I had never heard of this.
It seemed kind of mean. 5PM!? That is really early! That absurd to me. My friend that does it, does it after 8PM... and even then idk. If I was thirsty I would prefer having something to drink. D:

No dont do it. it's done to stop kids who piss the bed at night. If your kid isent doing it, you don't need to ban liquids

Its ok XD I understand, we are over the internet and it's hard to gage how each other sounds. I was more just wondering if it would help the potty training process but at the same time. I would feel horrible so I dont think I could.

It's not stupid. I think it would be mean to force your kid to be thirsty, but I don't think it's wrong to reduce the amount of liquids a kid gets before bed. I was a huge bed wetter and I would have much rather been a little thirsty then wet the bed, but honestly whether I drank a gallon of water before bed or drank nothing I would wet the bed either way. My daughter always has a cup of water next to her bed. She rarely wets and also rarely drinks any of the water.

Hmm interesting. My son is only 2 1/2 and mostly potty trained during the day but he is scared of public toilets(wont potty in public) and I havent really been working on night times but he is only 2 1/2 so I am not really worried.
