tax return... wtf

im only getting 550 dollars back... im confused and mad. I normally get alot back and I was counting on this money to help me live off of while I go to nursing school. So much for that.

Did you do something different? I know between DH's raise and Obama tax breaks over, we got a lot less this year too.

I'm paying  But I'm ok with it, I'm doing really well.

Only $500. No kids, though.

not really, the only huge change was a divorce but i didn't think it would change my taxes that much considering I am the only one claiming the children this year

i haven't filed yet, but the return estimator said like 1000. that's pretty comparable to what we got back last year, so I'm guessing it's pretty accurate. I get bummed when I hear of people getting huge amounts back. I could totally use a big return to live off of for my last semester of school as well. at least you dont have to pay in. I feel a little better when I think of the huge amount that my parents have to pay in lol

even that seems low for kids.

our first year of marriage we got like 4000 back and our 2nd year we got 9,000 and this year I get 550? I never realized how much marriage helps you in the tax department, i always thought it was the kiddos that helped

I'm not married so maybe that's why? because yeah that's a huge difference for you to go from 9 grand to 500. wow

We're getting back a little over 5,500. It's almost the same we got back last year.

Well we make a lot of money, so I much rather would have more money and pay than make nothing and get a return.

Far out how much tax did you pay to get 9k back?

We paid a combined of over 30k last year and only got just over 2k back.

We have one child.

it was around 50 thousand... and he was on deployment so it was no taxable? idk why we got so much

Wow it must be good pay of he early enough to pay 50k in tax alone.

I only got 8 dollers back hahaha, I only worked a couple months this last year and only made 300 dollars.
My SO made 53k this year they took out 11k in taxes
he is only getting 3,716 back.
thats with him claiming our daughter.
