After 6 months they could probably hold the bottle for the most part though right? Once they gain neck control and some hand coordination I wouldn't even consider that propping the bottle.

i do it now at 6 months i prop his bottle only at night time, so once at night. I do watch him and stay up during the time he eats its just he seems to settle alot better if i leave him in his crib and let him drink his bottle there

I only propped my daughter's if she got hungry while we were in a store, or something to that effect. I was always standing over her, or within eyesight. That was just me though. My son's never got propped, because one of his vocal chords is paralyzed and he had to eat a special way or he aspirated the milk.
Edit: I left out the part where she was smaller and in her carrier. LOL that would have helped...now that she is older she can chill and wait, or have her cuppy.

Oh my. That's so scary about your son aspirating the milk. Will it always be like that for him?

Quoting *Kay*:" I see. I don't really see anything wrong with it. As long as every bottle they get isn't just propped ... [snip!] ... it's caregiver to always have it's bottle propped. (Not saying any of you ladies are neglecting your babies. Just wondering)"

My son and I have an awesome bond...I did it more often than I should have probably, but I liked to scream in the car without one so any time we went somewhere he had one...he wasn't super young when I started doing that, but he wasn't that old either. Every other feeding, unless he got hungry in the store, I would hold him or someone else would. Can't speak for anyone else's kids on the bonding, but it defintely didn't effect ours.

Well that's good!   I think as long as it's not like every bottle it wouldn't effect bonding. I was just curious to others thoughts.

Nah once he hit round 18m, we went for his final check up in Bham. His vocal chord is still partly paralyzed, but they said something to the effect of his body has learned to compensate or something. They did another swallow thing and all that to look. You'd never know anymore, he's 4, except the fact that when he breathes hard you can hear it. It sounds scary as crap lol but it's not a big deal anymore.

It was scary at first though. He was my first child, and all that jazz. I had to go room in for two days in the NICU so they could teach me how to feed him properly. Longest two days EVER

I'm glad he is doing well now! I would have been so scared too. I can only imagine!

BEST PURCHASE EVER! You can get them at BabiesRUS. I used them in the car when I couldn't feed DS and drive at the same time. It's such a life saver. Plus it eliminates air in the stream. Ugh, just SUPER handy!

In the car is really the only place I ever bottle propped with my DS! I would have felt much better about it using those!

Never have, never would with any child, I find it incredibly lazy to do so.
