Night Terrors

posted 5th Feb
When do they usually start in children?

Idk what is up with my son tonight, but he "woke up" twice screaming bloody murder and it took about 5 mins to calm him down both times. Never once did he physically wake up though. Also right before both times he was stirring like he was about to wake up but then that's when the screaming started. He is only 4 months old, which to me is WAY to early for night terrors. They just came off as if that's what they were. It was so bad my husband actually put our son to bed in our room after the second time. -We woke him up changing his diaper in the middle of his last fit and gave him a bottle to calm him down.

This whole thing is just out of character for him, he never cries when he wakes up, it's only when he is extremely tired, let alone to scream like someone stabbed him with a knife 20 times.

They usually start about 3 years old.

Things to help with night terrors:
More sleep. ( taking naps/ earlier bedtime)
Less tv
If theres a tramatic event going on in life, that's changeable, change it.
The tv thing and sleep helped my son.

He didn't have his usually long nap today so maybe that was it. I just hope it isn't a very early start to the terrors!
