Help me with my Graco my ride 65!!!...

posted 5th Feb
We have a graco my ride 65 safety surround and my son has been in it for about 5ish months now. Today when I was trying to get him out I could NOT open the buckle...not the chest clip but the buckle part its like the button was stuck! My SO said something to me about it like a week ago but I didn't think anything of it.
I loosened the straps completely so I could pull him out, I sat him in the back seat and I started working on it trying to get it open. I eventually got it open (after locking my keys in the car and the cops having to come  ....) My thumbs were so sore and after messing around with it, it would open easily sometimes and others it wouldn't.. You have to press really really really hard in the middle at the top of the button and it will work.

Has anyone else had this issue?? What should I do? Should I call the company and ask them about it? I don't want my son riding around in something and it NOT be safe. I mean I'd rather it be stuck than come loose easily! I just no something is up with it because it has NEVER been that difficult to unbuckle it before!

I've been seeing a few people on other boards talking about how the new style buckles are getting stuck. Call the company, they should replace it.

Also, report it to the NHSTA so that they can investigate it as it could be a safety issue if there was an emergency:

I think the first thing I'd do is buy a can of duster and blow it out just in case it's getting stuck by debris or something. Take a flash light and look in it if it's still sticking, may be something still stuck.
If that fails, then call the company. Depending on how long you've had it, if it's guaranteed, etc, you may get a replacement free or discounted.

mine did that,i put the buckle in a cup of hot water since i figure it was sticky from my son dropping juice on it and after that we haven't had any issues.

I have the same seat and no issues. If he's old enough to spill stuff I'd do what the other lady said and soak it in hot water first, but just the buckle bit not the fabric. It's probably got crap in it.
