Backwards letters

When did your kid grow out of this? My son has been doing it for the last couple months.

Depends on the kid. Mine still does sometimes & he'll be 6 tomorrow.

It's normal. Don't stress   it's diff for all kids.

My son never did it until he was in kindergarten and watched the other kids do it, but he grew out of it by like 7. My daughter still does it and she's almost 6.

Thanks. Thats what his teacher told me, but I cant help but wonder. lol. I used to spell my name ennovy and they were all backwards also. lmao... Im just hoping it doesnt become that. lol.

He will be 6 in 2 months... and it was smooth sailing until a few months ago.

Is he a lefty? My son is, and it took going to kindergarten to straighten most of it out. He still has a few problems with it, but not very often anymore.

He is a righty. lol.

cameron only does it here and there, until i correct him midway and tell him hes doing it all backwards

Ok, lol. Brody would make mirror images of letters/words and I was told a lot of that was attributed to him being left-handed. For a righty, IDK.  

It is normal. My daughter is only 4, but when she's learning something new at a rapid speed she'll start doing it more often. Her handwriting actually got really bad recently, and then it got better all of the sudden. Things like that come and go at a young age, I think.

Thats what I do too, but then he gets angry and tells me that it is that way and its the right way.   But I erase it and make him do it over again.

yea not sure why he knows how to write correctly yet it just comes natural for him to do it backwards sometimes

Don't freak out mamas. They're doing it cause they've mastered their name ago they're testing new ways to write it. I've had kids so all kinds of weird stuff with their name. One used to color in all the round letters like a and o. One made all o his letters into aliens. Some write it backwards. Maybe challenge them to write it a diff way. We started teaching dd to write hers in cursive cause she was interested when she saw me write It that way one time.

I've contemplated getting Kay started on cursive. I've heard, too, that for wiggly boys some may learn cursive better than they do the other at first. I found that interesting.
