How long does a backpack last your child?

Maxwell has went through TWO since smurfing September...
First one... some little douche cut it with scissors
Now this one... he came home with no zippers on it.

Like what in the hell?!?!
So NOW I have to go out tonight and get him a new one because they have to have a backpack with them daily.

I'm just annoyed... that yet again I have to buy ANOTHER one. I swear if I have to buy a 4th I will lose it.
It's not like he is rough with it or messes with the zippers...I have no idea what the hell is going on but it's just getting on my nerves. A preschooler shouldn't be going through back packs like this  

Carter had a backpack at the beginning of the year that the zipper ended up breaking on way too soon.
Now he uses a messenger bag that i've had for years and it's still going strong.

We are on our second one & I noticed a hole in it today. I'm so mad, I can't afford to keep spending $20+ on a backpack. I've threatened him if he finished destroying it he won't get a new one.

He'll be 6 tomorrow & is kindergarten.

I now what you mean my son is on his 3rd back pack and 4th lunch bag. I buy the cheap ones for like 10$ so if it does get messed up im not too upset. My son is in the 2nd grade and should know how to take better care of his thing but im learning that boys are harder on their things than girls...

I have and they said they "see everything" and nothing is going on because they would know.
YET when I was parent helper there was this one little douche in his class that kept pulling the girls hair and punching them in their sides. GUESS WHO DIDN'T SAY Smurf?!

can you get him like, a nice one that he can use for awhile? like, go big- but then be covered longer?
i'm not big on themed-stuff (not sure if you are) but like, clara's gonna get a cute leather backpack when she starts next year and over the years i'm just gonna let her do different things to alter it til it finally dies.

or an old school jansport?  

We got dean a cheap backpack, lasted from sept till xmas the zipper came off, I was able to mickey mouse it till his break lol.

We got him TMNT shell backpack from Journeys, and it is awesome quality, real thick, and the material and stitching are really strong...

This!! My jansport went though hell lol.

Try a Yak Pak they are a little expensive but come with a warranty. Mine has lasted for over 6 years so far with no issues.

He REALLY is into Mario so... I have to keep finding Mario backpacks lol I keep running others by him and I get shot down.

My kids could destroy the cheapy character backpacks in a matter of days. We spent a little extra money on the ones this year and they're not as cute, buy way more durable.
