Ya know what's funny is that some of the posters who are do horrified by the concept of checking your own body are probably considering home births LOL
Kind of a contradiction, eh

Um, no. Checking yourself at home when you haven't been properly trained to is risky. What do you think there is to it? Just jamming your fingers up there? Incorrect.

I did do a home water birth, in a sterlized water birth tub, mid wives wore gloves. Also used chux pads and my cervix was never checked.. I'm not afraid of germs, just don't see the point of checking in healthy pregnancy.

That's cool. Don't check if you don't see the point. I personally, think it is very fascinating.

I was actually trying to understand, but OP won't answer me lol. Basically you do it just because you like to, is that correct? I'm sincerely asking questions here.

For me- yes. When I get near the end I always check every day because it is so neat to check my progression and feel my baby's head right there!

Hey- OP-
I got irritated with everyone telling you what to do with your body and just now realized you never received an answer!
In reply- your cervix the dilation of your cervix is accompanied with bleeding. This is natural, normal and to be expected.

In checking the cervix? DOUBTFUL. That is one of the most basic techniques, while it needs proper training, it doesn't take a Ph.D to get it down.
