Oh well. It happens. Guess I just need to find different friends.

So what if a kid had AIDS or Hep C or any number of diseases or things that can't be vaccinated against? Do you think parents have to disclose all medical information? I remember I worked at a museum and a little girl busted her nose and came into where I worked. She bled all over my counter top. We didn't ask her, her status. The janitor cleaned the mess using gloves and a cleaner and we went about our business.

Really?

Thats a pretty low blow to a mother that is merely trying to protect her child.

How is that a low blow?

You don't necessarily need to disclose all health information or ask someone their health information, but if something like that happens with blood, there is protocol in place so that you protect yourself from contracting anything just in case such as using the gloves and whatnot.

But we didn't freak out. There are tons of diseases out there that they don't have vaccines for. I don't keep my daughter in a bubble or off the playground because she might get sick.

Because it is way off topic and had nothing to do with the discussion. I understand your feelings are hurt but that was a personal attack at her and it had nothing to do with anyone on this forum.

It does though. Jails carry a way higher risk of disease than the average person.

How?

Acting like anyone that has spent any time in jail is automatically a "risk"
and more of a risk than she deems an unvaccinated child.

It's her decision, demeaning her opinion is low as well as assuming she is putting her kid at risk.

You're really very judgemental.

I am not really judgemental. It's just a little offensive that my sperfectly healthy child is more of a risk than someone who just got out of jail (a breeding ground for infectous disease).

Just have to jump in and say that you get tested for transmittable diseases and they keep you up to date on vaccinations such as TB and the flu in jail. So he's probably "cleaner" than anyone else in that household.

Why are you taking it personal?
Why tell people if you're going to be all pissy about their choices?

and this is regarding childhood vaccine preventable diseases not your general infectious diseases.

Because we were friends and I feel like she's judging me now when I never judged her even though I really disagreed with her on stuff too. And I never once said anything even when my child was effected by it.

I don't think she is judging you necessarily.

She was told this by her pediatrician and most people typically do not question doctors or take it to a higher level by doing their own research.

I think she was doing what the average person would do.
I am sure you did alot of research and risk assessment before opting out of vaccines but most people who follow the schedule do not do this. They feel no need.

It's fear mongering, but not her fault, imo.
