Pretty sure if my kid was sick with anything, regardless of being something that is normally vaccinated for I wouldn't let them play with healthy kids.

So could her's though. It just bothers me that she's known for months and let them play and be friends and now they can't anymore because he MIGHT be a risk at some point.

If something was going around, I might do the same thing if I knew the child wasn't. It seems like a weird thing to know about your neighbor.

I tell everyone as a courtesy so they can decide for themself because of situations like this.

So then why be upset that she made the decision that you allowed her to make?

You are contagious before you show symptoms.

So, technically your kid could get it and they could play together before you even realize your child is sick.

And if you tell everyone so they can decide for themselves, why are you upset? She decided.

Because she was fine with it for eight months. She let then become friends. He ASKS to play with her because he misses her.

Well if her doctor just mentioned this to her recently, then it may have changed her mind. You can't fault her for changing her mind. You gave her the information. People want to protect their kids. And if her child/ren isn't/aren't fully vaccinated against sicknesses that your child could have/get, then she has every right to want to protect her kid/s.

And I get it, I do, but that doesn't make my heart break any less when LO asks for her and I tell him that they can't play.

That does suck, but she's doing what she feels best for her child... and it's not something crazy or outlandish, you can't really fault it.

Just try to distract LO...

that's what I do with mine, we had to move and I had to take LO out of his preschool, he still asks about his best friend in the class. I have to just try to distract him. I feel bad, but it's one of those things that's part of childhood that a parent can't always protect their child from.

She's doing what she feels she needs to to protect her child. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm sure I need to just get used to this since he will likely face a lot of discrimination because of this. I just wonder like, if I hadn't told her, would she have asked me? Is she going to ask EVERYONE? I would think they'd be more at risk from the guy that just got out of jailbthat they have staying there.

She may or may not ask everyone. That's her prerogative. She may be one of those "ignorance is bliss" and she may never have asked you if you hadn't told her. I agree that if she has someone who just got out of jail, he may put the kids at more risk than your non vaccinated child, but a lot of adults don't think about that, unfortunately.
