Medical bill stuff

posted 5th Feb
For anyone that knows, I have about $4000 in medical bills that went to collections. I lost my job and couldn't pay them anymore so it lingered   well I am paying them all off this week and I'm wondering how long after I pay them that it will be removed from my credit. We were approved for a home loan but we decided to wait until after these are paid to see if we could do better on a loan. Thanks guys!

It will still be on your credit report that they had gone to collections, but once you pay them the accounts will change status from open to settled. You can call the collection company to ask when they report, but I had a mistake on my report once and that company told me they reported on the first of every month, so I had to wait for mine to get fixed. Not sure if they are all like that.

Ok so by next jan it should all be settled and off? That's good to know then I was worried it would take years for the credit damage to be repaired

Well by March it should say that you've settled it and the account is closed. But I'm pretty sure it will still say you had a collections account for like 7 years. It takes a while for credit to recover from that. Honestly, I'm not sure that closing an account that was only for 4k would make much difference on your mortgage loan. That's a small debt considering how much some people have lol
