Circumcision?
posted 5th Feb
I'm having a boy, and at first I was 100% sure that I was not going to circumcise him. Now I'm thinking maybe I should. My question is for moms who have boys, did you do it? Why or why not?

I did because I wanted to. It's not medically necessary though.

I chose to leave my son intact because he is perfect the way I made him.
It's a painful, unnecessary cosmetic procedure with no health benefits (in MOST cases).

Is a personal choice and something that you and your dh have to decide. Once is cut there is no going back so make sure you know for sure what you really want to do.

I will not circumcise my boys. Unless medically needed, it is unesecary surgery. There are no benefits to getting it done.

I plan on it ...and my pedi does it so i dont have to rely on my OB and paying 400 for it

I didnt cause I couldnt find one good reason to put my son through it.
If I were you I would figure out why you want to and why you dont and decide the best for you

I didn't. It's a barbaric unnecessary procedure. If he wants to have it done when he's older, he can consent to it and have it done.

I chose not to because his father isn't.

I was going to with my first but then while in the NICU I was speaking with one of the nurses who gave me a bunch of information on the procedure and then decided against it. I am having another boy this time and he will not be circed either.

What did she say?

Did it and I don't see a problem with doing it or not doing it. It is just a personal decision and I don't usually talk to anyone about it. It is none of their business.

My son is circumcised. I did it for a lot of reasons including the chance that he'd need it medically done when he was older anyway due to the skin cutting off circulation to the penis head, so why not have it done while he was small and wouldn't remember? There are also studies that show it reduces the chances of cancer in circumcised males and their sexual partners.
But ultimately it's up to you and your partner whether or not you choose to circumcise your son. There's no right or wrong answer. It's what is right for you and your family.
