Yeah I bet not! Just take it as a lesson learned.

I understand that everyone messes up from time to time but she needed to eventually put her foot down and it just so happened to be on the day you messed up.

Would you pay $85 for someone else's screw up?

And by the way you described your interaction with your boss and your work history there, it sounds like this isn't a first.

I'm sure it doesn't need to be brought to her attention. When employees say, "Well so-and-so screwed up but SHE didn't get in trouble" they sound like 5-year-olds and nobody wants a freaking kindergartener working for them.

Suck it up, pay the bill, and understand that your personal life and how stressful or overwhelming it might be is none of your employer's concern. She hired you to do your job properly.

I know it's harsh, but in most states, you can get fired for absolutely nothing, and unless you're nearly impossible to replace, there is generally a line 100 people long for any given job these days.

I know there no jobs out there thats why i said i would pay for it. I was just asking to see if it was the right thing to do thats all.

It's the right thing to do.

And I would stop with the excuses. Your OP was full of them. Don't do your job fast, just do it efficiently.
