Separating phone lines, sprint
posted 5th Feb
I would like to separate my phone account from Dh's family's plan. Has anyone done this before? How much did it cost you? I'm going to sprint later, but to know if anyone has done it

you might not be able to. When i tried taking a line off my family plan i had to cancel my plan and get a new one, with new numbers. This was through t mobile

With AT&T we had to do whole new contracts when removing a line. It was a few years ago so it could be different now...

It depends on if you're still within your contract period or if your phone is just month-to-month on their plan right now. If it's month-to-month, it shouldn't cost anything because you're not canceling a contract. You'll just need the phone number and the pin number from their account to transport the phone number.

Mil changed the PIN. Apparently someone tried to hack their account and they tried to blame me for it just because I didn't go to church. Isn't that nice? I'm just worried about having to change number. I've had this number for almost 3 years now so if someone important calls me, I don't want my business going to their ears. Kwim?

if its out of contract you should be able to port your current number to your new account. I did that with my Alltel account a bunch of years ago when we moved to T-Mobile. It was an option on the account creation, if you wanted a new number or if it was an old portable one.

Sprint said I could detach my number no problem and at no cost. $70/month, I can live with that
