question for women WITH circumcised sons

posted 5th Feb
all the males in my family as well as my husbands have been circumcised. I want to circumcise my son when he is born because of the risk of infects and so on in uncircumcised penises but I was also wanting to know about your experience with newborn circ. and if you would do it again. did your child have any issues, infections or pain? i assume it would be quite painful during the procedure but how about afterwards? thanks for any information or advice you can give.

There is no difference in infections with uncirc and circed penises. If I had the choice I would never have got my son circ'd.

It's better to do it now then later down the road.it isn't really that hard to take care of just put the med on it for a week or so and change diapers all the time and your good to go.my first sons is done my baby Landon has a hypospadius so next month we have to go in to have a surgery where they have to reconstruct his pee hole and put it in the right place.they will use the left over skin that was on the top part for a skin graph.

it was ok, after the procedure he didn't really act like it was hurting him and he wasn't really fussy we just put vaseline and gauze around it and changed the gauze/put more vaaseline every diaper change i think. It healed within a week. I dont have any regrets if i ever have anymore boys they will be circumcised too.

thats why I want to do it when he is newborn, the way I figure it he wont remember in a few minutes, just like a shot or a heel prick, it will hurt while they do it and he will cry but in a few minutes he will forget. I think its more me projecting my pain onto him thinking, "this is going to hurt my poor baby. i dont want my baby to hurt" and that is why i wanted to know experiences. Thanks for your input. and good luck with you sons surgery.

have you looked up the pros and cons of both? if you haven't I would most definitely before you make a final decision.

So because he won't remember... it's okay for you to put your baby through pain? I just don't see how women can stomach seeing/hearing their baby screaming because of something THEY chose to do to them. I've watched videos and it makes me uneasy, and they're not even my children.

We just put Vaseline and gauze on it at every diaper change for two weeks. He came back to me sleeping and he was fine.

I would recommend you researching it further tho. There really isn't a big difference in numbers when it comes to infections.

My son is cut and if my next one is a boy, he will be as well. I know he slept through the procedure and nursed easily after and there seemed to be very little interuption with our routine. I have assisted with hundreds of circs and the vast majority sleep through it - not cry so much that they pass out in exhaustion, but start asleep and end asleep barely even flinching. The area is cleaned and numbed with a block so baby doesn't feel anything and tylenol is available for pain after as well as sucrose solutions during and after the procedure. (sucking on paci or finger dipped in sucrose has been shown to decreased relieve infant pain) The area was easy to care for and within 3 days was totally healed.

yes, I have. I have also watched the videos for circ. my sister works in a hospital and sees it everyday. she says it looks alot scarier than it really is. my granpa had to be circumcised in his late 40's because he kept developing infections, I would not want my son to have to go through it later in life.

And it is very rare people do go through that. Alos there is a pretty significant death rate for circ'd boys (this is coming for parent who stupidly had their kid circ'd)

The reason he developed infections is because of hygiene issues. Just like a vagina, an intact penis has folds/crevices that need to be cleaned. Would you remove bits of your daughters vagina to help it stay clean/infection free? Or would you teach her how to properly clean herself?

Yea my DH had to be circumcised at 16 because of Phismosis and infections, so i figured i would rather have my son circumcised as an infant than as a teenager.
