re: question for women WITH circumcised sons

yep we have had many a man needing emergency circs later in life and it is a HUGE ordeal for those guys. some surgeries, the older you are, the more complications you may have (circ and tonsils are 2 such surgeries)

Yes my son is done, no complications. No, I will not do it again now that I know it is completely unnecessary.

The vast majority of men in the entire world are not circumcised & do not need it later on in life either. I think some of the guys here just did not learn the proper way to care for it.

the only part that hurts from my understanding is the numbing injection and a little soreness afterward for the first day. my sister sees them done everyday. she is a phlebotomist in the hospital where he will be having his done and says they cry more having blood drawn or heel pricks than they do with the circ. of course I dont want to see them hurt but the benefits outweigh the fact that he will be uncomfortable for a few minutes. it looks very intimidating, I will agree there, but she also told me that it looks alot worse than it is. I wanted to know opinions of people who have had their children circumcised, the post wasnt meant to start a debate. only to gather information from people who have experience.

Ist not a few minutes of pain. It is the constant pain that they are in while it heals, but ya know what people don't think of that because babies don't register pain like everybody else does.

There are NO pros to it. Seriously. None. Any kind of pro you find for circumcision can easily be debunked by hygiene/cleanliness/education. It's VERY rare for someone to actually need a circumcision. We're the only country to routinely circumcise infant boys. And we're the only country who seems to have problems with intact men (them always getting infections, blah blah blah). Have you ever stopped to think it's not the foreskin that's the problem.... but the parents/doctors for not cleaning properly, teaching their son proper hygiene, etc?

I find circumcision to be the lazy way out of things. If you wouldn't circumcise your daughter to prevent infections (which, lets be real, women get A LOT of infections... but we're just prescribed antibiotics. Why can't men just be prescribed antibiotics instead of doctors jumping to circumcision ASAP?), you shouldn't circumcise your son. Period.

THIS!!! There are a lot of cons you need to be aware of. Make sure you learn both sides of the story.

except that guys tend to not clean themselves well- especially in teens and 20's (have you been to a college dorm? ewwwww) . secondly there WILL be a point in life when he CAN'T clean it anymore - not physically able to. At that age have an emergency surgery so he can pee could literally kill him, but it could kill him to leave it without surgery.

I swear, there are too many doctors out there that have no idea how to care for an uncircumcised penis. like on here, I see so many posts where their doctors told them to fold back the foreskin to clean it. Ummm...

Some women aren't clean, either. Yeast infections, STI's, odor, etc. It's because they aren't cleaning properly. The vagina has, essentially, the same folds/crevices that an intact penis does --- if not MORE. But we're prescribed ointment, antibiotics, etc... and it clears right up. Why not men as well? Why are people so quick to jump the circumcise wagon if a problem occurs? Because you sure as hell don't see anyone mutilating a vagina over an STI or yeast infection, do you?

I have yet to hear about this being a problem in any other country where routine circumcision is not a norm...

& if a guy is lazy & does not want to care for his penis, then he deserves an infection *shrug*

there is no good reason for routine circumcision.

Quoting kthx.:" The reason he developed infections is because of hygiene issues. Just like a vagina, an intact penis ... [snip!] ... bits of your daughters vagina to help it stay clean/infection free? Or would you teach her how to properly clean herself?"

actually it was nothing at all to do with is hygiene. he was a diabetic and somehow the diabetes caused the recurring infections. and diabetes runs in my family, so who is to say that it wouldn't happen to my son as well? my brother in law is alo uncirc'd he hasnt gone into detail about if he has had infectons or trouble cleaning but he has said he wishes his mom would have circ'd him when he was an infant. i dont know why, but he has said it. and if it would prevent her from having problems that were out of her control and not due hygeine then yes i would.

And that's another big reason older men are having problems with their foreskin -- aged medical practices/doctors. Pulling the foreskin back causes tears, lacerations, etc... and of course those are very easy to get infected. And it probably would've never happened if the foreskin wasn't pulled back by the doctor or parent............
