Another Update

posted 5th Feb
I went to see Miles at the hospital twice today and the second time his nurse practitioner was there and she said she thinks he'll come off the ventilator tomorrow   If he comes off tomorrow morning I should be able to finally hold him when DH gets home from work   I haven't gotten to hold him since he was about 3 hours old and he's almost 5 days now. She said they've been weaning him off the oxygen and he only needs to come down one more time and then they'll take him off   I also got a little sleep smile while I was there late tonight. I rubbed his little cheek and I guess it tickled because he grinned really big. I know it was just a sleepy smile but it was the best thing in the world. I haven't even seen him with his eyes open since the day he was born so I needed that cute little grin, even if it didn't mean anything. Anyway, that's all

It sounds like he is getting stronger. I hope you can hold him tomorrow.

Me too!! The closest thing we've had to skin to skin is a little stuffed tiger I keep in my shirt all day and take to him at night. The lactation nurse recommended I do it to help my milk supply, but it appears it didn't need any help. They already told me to stop bringing it because they have more than enough lol. I'm still wondering why at almost 38 weeks his lungs weren't ready, though

Sometimes they can be off on the DD by up to two weeks and some babies just take longer to get ready than others. Like my friend had her baby at 35 weeks with no issues.

My due date was off, I know it was. They moved it up because he was big. My official due date set him at 37w4d, but I really think he was 36w3d, which is more common for lung issues, but he was an awfully big 36 weeker. Date of conception was June 2nd. Here's a picture from today

The light under him is for jaundice. He's been in the dark sine birth and he was starting to turn a little yellow.

Awwwww. He is adorable mama! My LO was big to but my doctor knew not to change his DD. It was funny because I told her big babies run in my family. She didn't really believe me until LO came out weighing 10 pounds at 39 weeks.

That's a big baby! DS1 was 6lbs7oz at 40w4d and DS2 was 7lbs5oz at 37w4d. He's the biggest baby in our family   The second biggest was my little sister at 7lbs at 39w. We're a small group of ladies and have pretty small babies. All my grandma's babies were 5lbs, my mom was the biggest at 6lbs7oz (just like DS1   ) My bio dad is a HUGE guy. We're talking 6'6" and stocky as hell, so maybe that's why this one came out a little chunkier haha.
