Quoting nursemaya (10weeks):" nice, I like this. People only ever talk about how fabulous home birth is, but they never talk about ... [snip!] ... "poison". This is just one of MANY examples of people being taken in by dishonest home birth midwives that I have witnessed. "

Honestly though you have to have faith in yourself and faith in trusting your own instincts. If I do a homebirth (which in the next 10 years I'm hoping to) if I think I need to go to the hospital do you think a midwife will stop me? Hell smurfing no!

Yeah kangaroo care doesn't always solve the problems preemies have   my dd was a preemie and she had low blood sugar. They let us try kangaroo care but she just couldn't regulate it on her own and it dropped more. Even Bfing didn't bring it up. But the medical professionals did let me try. So not all medical professionals are all anti natural methods. But they're there in the case they don't work. They even broke hospital regulation and let her stay with me because she was fine besides the blood sugar.

I can see in white old hospitals why some might not like to have a baby there, when it looks like a surgery room. The hospital I had my son at was so homey, I loved it.

And even with induction, epidural, episiotomy, etc interventions I've heard cause trouble with experience and bonding, we bonded like glue

Although I'm going to try to avoid that stuff this time, it's not the end of the world.

Medical center of trinity (fl) is our new built hospital. It's like the one I had my son at. The birth rooms have a resort feel to them.

I can agree that environment effects the experience.

Shut the smurf up. If they want a home birth they are entitled to one they don't need you preaching bullsmurf. If they want to give birth at a hospital they are also entitled to one. I hope you didn't circ your kid because you know more babies die from circumcision than SIDS every year

I forgot to add, I am also very glad I made the choice to stay with y doctor than to switch. Idk why I did it but I guess God was watching over me through this whole preg.

Yeah there are some states like that. It doesn't really make sense why it's a state to state thing IMO.

That's it, trust your instincts. My instincts never got me far enough to even go to a midwife let alone to Hb. I am very grateful for that. If I hadn't trusted my instincts and pushed for my dream birth anyway it would have been far from a dream.

I know, I'm hoping by the next time I have another kid that it will be changed. I had a gut feeling with Cylus that something was wrong so ehh I trust my instincts but like I said if I felt I needed to go to the hospital nobody would stop me.

No he's not circumcised, actually. He was also breastfed 23 months. All that natural stuff is great, but to the extent of denying safety and having a baby with no help by choice, that's extreme. And extremely dangerous.

Sorry but I couldn't read that website and not put it where I know a lot if people will see it. It's not pushy, it's just people's real stories because after tragedy these woman want to do their part to prevent further tragedy.

People get defensive over this.

that is just some of the women's stories, not all of them. And it isn't with no help. Alot of the time if you go through actual licensed people you are good. I would always look up anybody who claims they have accreditation. Even my doctors who are with hospitals I look up.

Making fun of one of my previous posts is very mature, a great way to defend your beliefs.

Midwives run the show over here. Mine were amazing...both when I was planning a homebirth and when I went back to the hospital practice for my care (because we moved and I didn't want to give birth in the midst of tons of boxes) I did an outpatient birth. It's like a happy medium between the two.
