How many weeks are you? And it wouldn't matter much unless you are contracting 3-5 minutes apart or your water broke. I went in for my induction and was dilated 4.5 cm. I started dilating at 36 weeks.

Checking can irritate the cervix and cause dilation/contractions. That's why docs don't check til 36-37w

I told my dr about the pressure I was feeling and he did do a quick check on things for me. I was 36 weeks, turns out with the more pregnancies you have the sooner you feel all the yucky stuff you do normally at the end lol
