Pap smear came back abnormal.

A guy I slept with a while back has hpv, and just recently told me.,i went and goy a pap smear and they told me it was abnormal. I go back for a obsotery or whatever its called. Im soooo scared. Im scared about cervical cancer and i need some advice.

Hopefully it's nothing. I've had a few abnormal paps... Just keep in mind it could be about anything. -hugs- positive vibes your way! <3

When I had an abnormal pap I had a colposcopy done. When they're in there of they see anything suspicious they may take a biopsy. Then you'll know if you have anything. They can tell from that if its risk for cervical cancer or not. Sometimes as little as having sex too close to your pap smear can cause an abnormal pap. Or just having a low immune system like if you're been sick or depressed. So try not to worry until you get the test results back. Good luck. I'm sure it'll be fine

My ob did a biopsy right away when I had mine. I guess every doctor is different...

How did they know it was abnormal during the pap   Or am I misunderstanding?

They did a pap and found a bump on my cervix. Called me before I even got home saying it was abnornal... then a few days later sent me for a biopsy...

Yeah they did my biopsy During my colposcopy. I had 3 spots that tested positive during the colp so she did the biopsy right then. is that what you mean?

Well the thing with me is I got the pap before I knew I was pregnant. And it came back abnormal. I know who I got hpv from.. So I know tgats what I have...unfortuantly. I dont hace any sigbs, but yeah. My concrn is, I cant get a colospy when im pregnant and im only 8 weekd... So would they be able to see cervical cancer if it was growing, and could they do anything about it??

Maybe take a skin sample like scraping the cells off it a little and testing it? If u did have it they'd probably monitor your preg and remove it when I had the baby? Idk for sure.

They'd have to do some kind of biopsy and scrape cells off your cervix. I'm not sure they could do anything about cancer... hope everything is ok.

I was 5 weeks pregnant when I went in to have my abnormal cells biopsied and they didn't do it because of that. I went through a healthy pregnancy with a healthy baby. Had a pap done 6 weeks after her birth and things were back to normal. I was told that having a child cleans out those abnormal cells. Just make sure you get another pap after baby to check things.
