Quoting MommaNoodle:" i did come across his tutorial on how to make a baby hat of some kind. it looked pretty simple, but he was doing stitches i didn't know. lol. i might try it again, though. "
try searching mikeyssmail beginners. He has several tutorials showing how to do various stitches. He's the easiest to follow in my opinion. I dunno if it's just because he puts a modern, gay twist on crocheting or what, but he's seriously amazing, lol.
He even has a tutorial on reading patterns. In all honesty though, just watching him do the various stitches in various tutorials was enough for me to figure them out. I never watched the videos on half double, double, cluster or basket. I just picked them up in various small projects I dug out of his uploads.
