Co showering

posted 4th Feb
I had my first shower with LO (5weeks) today.
He absolutely loved it!! Loved the water running down his back, was bright eyed and looking around at everything....he was so relaxed. Usually he screams during bath time, so I'm thinking this could be the way to go
He was also due for a feed about 10mins s after getting out, but after he got dressed he passed out on our bed for an hour.

I didn't and don't plan to co shower with DD, but how do you do it? I mean, how do you hold your LO as well as get yourself clean? I'm asking, because I thought about doing it, but was afraid the water would be too hot, or I'd drop her, etc...

ETA: sorry that was OT

Aww I remember the first co-shower with Kallee. She was scared, you could see it in her eyes, but she didn't cry, just had this look of ok, momma I trust you! I sang to her and she got used to it, she also fell asleep right after. Glad you're gonna have such a sweet first time memory!

Ds loves hot water! When he was an infant I would slowly warm up the qater until it was comfortable for us both. Wash baby and then put him/her in a carrier or hand em off to daddy. Sometimes I would wash before and then bring ds in with me.

It can be tricky holding onto to a wet and very slippery baby. I always found it helped to put a washcloth between us to give a little gripping surface area. It helped a lot. As for getting myself clean, facing one of the baby bath seats (it kind of resembles a bouncy seat on mesh) away from the shower and altering the spray to point less towards the back of the tub made things easy. I would face baby away to prevent the soap and water from accidentally splashing into his eyes.

My girls always take a shower with me. They love it and it's so much faster than all of us taking individual showers/baths.

I hopped in first to get the water temp right, then SO brought him into me. I didn't use soap or anything on him, just the running water. Then after about 15mins I called SO to come back in and get him, then I washed myself.
I never co showered with my other two, just the occasional bath but they were a lot older.
I'll definitely be doing it again though, it was so easy and great to have some one on one time with him besides feeding or settling him.

I co shower with both our kids. They take baths by themselves but sometimes they want to jump in with me or it is quicker to just all jump in the shower.
