YOUR caffeine during pregnancy
posted 4th Feb
I'm curious! Do you think your caffeine intake affected your baby at all?

I'm really not sure. I would drink about a can of pop a day, maybe less, but I would drink tea a lot. Constantly drinking tea.
I had LO at exactly 38 weeks and he was 9 pounds.
But, lets not forget about all the steak I ate. Towards the end of my pregnancy my mom had me eating so much meat, saying it helps with the babies brain development
--I think the meat had to with him being big. Or maybe just because I'm an amazon woman and I just make huge kids

I vote no. I still have q cup of coffee everyday, and days i work i will have about 4 half caff shots.. Somedays i dont have any caffeine. I wouljdnt say i exceed daily recommendations though... Maybe on some days...

My extreme amounts of caffine intake may have caused my dd's medical conditions although its still being studied since its rare to have, but in almost all cases its present with large amounts of caffine intake.
DD was not small at birth but is now at 1 yrs old 15lbs 26inches long.

With my first, I cut out all caffeine and my son was still wayyy small. With this one, I've had more than the recommended and she is actually big.

I just drink it whenever I want. More than "recommended" but my doctor is old fashioned and isn't concerned much with what we eat or drink besides alcohol. My son was 9.7lbs lol

I didnt drink it at all with my first and he was 7lbs 13 oz and delivered at 39+5 weeks. I have low bp this pregnancy, so my doc told me to drink up to 12 oz a day as needed when I feel it drop, but I dont honestly think it is going to affect her that much. I think if you drink caffine all day every day, then you might have some problems, but as long as you cut back I think you'll be fine.

Makes you think huh! My midwife keeps telling me she doesn't think my baby will be that big and I was just thinking "I wonder if it's cause I drink caffeine" lol

I have actually never thought about it until I read your question. I will say that the one kid I didn't drink caffeine with is like textbook ADHD, uber hyper etc.. The one that I drank a lot of caffeine with is very calm, super laid back.

mines the same way.
My 1st was born at 36w6d and was 7lb 4.5oz.
2nd was born at 37w3d and was 8lb even.
I'd say there are days I drink more than the "recommended" amount but not every day

I probably over do it by just a smidge. My Dr. said I can have 16 oz, but on work days, I usually order a 20 oz because I have to pull a 12 hour day and be pleasant on the phone far too early in the morning. It wouldn't happen w/out my coffee. LOL

that's interesting! I didn't drink caffeine with my son and he is super spastic too, but I'm not sure about his size as he was born early for other reasons.
