Vaectomy vs tubal ligation

posted 4th Feb
Anyone know what the chances of getting pregnant are with each of these procedures? DH insists that a tubal ligation is more effective and that's why he would prefer me to go under the knife. I say-- I had (will have had, I suppose) two kids. He can get the vasectomy!

Tubal is effective immediately, but it's a surgery and you will need recovery time, a Vaectomy takes a few weeks to take effect, but it's a simple outpatient, he will be swollen and in pain for a few days.
I told SO that if I'm getting snipped then so is he

I didn't even have to tell mine, he said once we have this baby he is getting it done lol It is very effective, I think at most, one in every thousand or million shots go off MIGHT have juice. A little spermicidal lube will take care of that lil bugger though

Unless I would end up having a c-section. he is getting it done... Our insurance doesn't cover either and you have to have the money up front so its a lot cheaper for him to get it taken care of..

chances of etopic pregnancy are higher w/u tubal ligation.....please look up PTLS and show your husband the info. Vasectomy isnt effective right away but is a less invasive procedure. I personnally am skeptical of any medical procedure thats sole purpose is to alter a persons body from functioning the way it was meant to.....as w/all surgical procedures there are risks. Research, research, research.

Yes, but only because I have had complicated pregnancies. It's not something I would do right away anyhow, unless I have to have another csection.

Eek. My friend went in for that and when she woke up, her dr told her that it didn't work!

that has little screws that hold it in place and some might come loose, then you have screws floating around and the essure isn't held tightly

It's agonizing.. my body is constantly trying to expel it, so I bleed almost all the time. I constantly feel like I have period cramps. I can't have sex because I'm too sore all around my stomach area... So many reasons. It was fine for the first 3 or 4 months and then things just went to smurf.
