Unless I'm mistaken, they still wouldn't go by what HE says, they'd go by her next of kin. And he's not next of kin.

Discuss this with your doctor and prepare a birth plan. It's your body not his. I think its quite rude of him to tell you that he's going to force medication on you against your wishes. You two need to have a talk concerning this whole matter. Honestly, its not his choice.

if they are married it would go by him if he wasn't present or able it would go to her parents then next of kin and so on

He can't make them give it to you. The only way they will is if YOU tell them to

You do NOT know the kind of agony you'll be in until you're there. I was just as stubborn and my husband supported my choice, but HOLY SmUrf! real labor hurts worse than you can possibly imagine. Don't be so stubborn. Listen to your body and listen to your partner. If you are not flexible, you're going to make yourself completely miserable and possibly get yourself into a situation you don't want to.

I exhausted myself into the choice of an epidural or a c-section. what are you going to pick if you get into my situation???

Just don't be stupid!

No one can force you to get an epidural. it would be pretty impossible to give it to someone who didn't want one.

I don't think you need to worry about paralysis though.

Ahhh she said SO so I thought they were unmarried.

Either way, OP, unless it's an emergency he doesn't get a say in the process. Hate to break that to him.

No one can make you get epidural. You have to sign a paper before they'll even give it to you.

He can not force you todo anything. I did not have one and I am still alive. I know a lot of people really don't want one then at 3 or 4 cm they get one. Everyone is different but if this is not somthing you want then there is not usually a reason you should do it.

I don't get why he thinks he can force you to have one? Seriously? That seams really screwed up to me. Why isn't he supporting you for the labor to go how you want it?

I know how painful it is. I've been through it before. Only way I will get an epidural is if I absolutely HAVE to, like if I have to have an emergency c-section. (Which having breech babies is a thing in my family, I think I was the first one who gave birth naturally.)

He told me outright he doesn't want to see me in pain. And he would be trying to talk them into giving me an epidural, which I did tell him that unless its an emergency or I tell them to, if I say "no", they have to go by it. I've done it once before, I can do it again, unless this one decides to go breech. (Praying he or she doesn't...)

It depends on the person and there pain tolerance I didn't want an epi and I was laughing though my contractions until I had pit-drip because my sugars where going to low during labor then that was pure hell and I still did it natural. I know it is not for everyone but she should try it if she wants it and then she always has the option to have the epi later.

That also happened t me. I was in too much pain to push(keep in mind I had to be induced and I can not have epidurals) My body just stoped working after 24 hrs of labor and 4 hrs of pushing. Next thing I know I was being put under for surgery. I wish I could have had an epidural so I could have been awake to see my baby
