Purple... is it unisex? *POLL*

posted 4th Feb
Im placing an order for LO's gumdrop pacis (4mo DS)

I've ordered 3 paci savers & was wondering what mamas thought about boys wearing purple or having purple pacis? I was going to get a blue, orange and purple paci to match these..

To me it seems the same as orange in the sense that its unisex.. but i do see it more on girls which makes me wonder if im being silly for wanting a purple paci for DS?

I think it'd look cute & suit Eeyore on his pooh paci saver

WDYT?

Honestly no one is going to care what color his pacifier is. People aren't going to walk up and point at him: "HAHA, PURPLE PACIFIER YOU BISEXUAL INFANT!"

Hes actually got a electric purple shirt - i think its got a band name on it with a guitar or something.

I like purple - pampers have purple diapers and they seem unisex enough to me haha!

I just wanted to know if i was being weird wanting purple & what other mamas thought about the colour.

I know OTHERS will think it's girly but I personally wouldn't care. My son wears his hair in pony tails for God's sake... Lol.

My boy would rock it.

I think many, many other people though, see it as a 'girl' color.

Im more worried about him being mistaken for a girl LOL!

I think purple is unisex, but i wondered how many would jump to assumptions & think DS was a girl if he had a purple paci.

I was out shopping with our eldest DS (dressed in unisex colours - soft lime green/yellow when he was about 3 mo) a few people walked up & said 'Ohhh shes got gorgeous eyes! what a beautiful little girl' hahaha

I think purple leans more toward a 'girl' color but I don't pay much attention to it, to be honest. I have had people call my daughter a her when she was wearing all pink with a bow in her hair (as a very young baby). And now it's all popular for guys to wear pink and purple anyway. So to me it's whatever.

I don't think the paci color really matters. My daughter sucks girl & 'boy' pacifiers. If it was clothes it'd be different.

I think its always been known as more of a girl color...but now days people don't really worry about what color their kids are wearing or what color their pacifiers are   My sons had purple bottles and I could care less. This also reminded me of when my daughter was a baby...I had her decked out in pink all the time, with a pink carrier and pink blanket...and many people told me I had a beautiful son...lol

I think people are more harsh on boys if im honest.

A girl wearing blue, sucking a blue paci etc doesn't matter, but if you dressed a boy in all pink and gave him a pink paci it'd be like   uhhh why?

LOL

I've got him purple anyway

I like it!

I was in Toys' R Us one day and a little boy came up to play with my daughter by the power wheels, he was wearing a bright pink boa, carrying a pink umbrella and went straight for the pink escalade. Very flamboyant little boy and I was so happy that his mother was breaking gender barriers. I mean, pink is a pretty freakin' color. Boys should be able to enjoy it too.

My oldest DS's favorite color is purple. My youngest DS has a pony tail and gets his toenails painted regularly. In our book, everything is unisex.

I've actually found a lot of cute boy stuff with pink.
Obviously it's some kind of statement now haha.

I think strict gender types/roles/rules are a recipe for disaster, though..
