What do you think he could be sick with?

My daughter has an AMAZING music teacher. But he's ill.... very ill. We got news today it's not so great. We are wondering if he can be sick with a few things but arent sure... the school isnt saying much even though we are very close to him. We have emailed him and called but he didnt answer because hes been in the hospital.

He became sick shortly after school started. I'd say September he started to get very tired, and wasnt eating. In November he was out of school about 3-4 days a week. He barely put himself together for the choir concert (Im a choir mom, as they call us. I coordinate choir happenings), and he told us then that he hadnt eaten solid food in weeks. He was throwing up nonstop, had diarrhea, and was VERY weak. He is not a big man at all. He is very small as it is, and he's older. Probably in his 60's.

Well he hasnt been back to school since the week before Thanksgiving break. He is now hospitalized and it's not looking good. The school is being very cautious and won't disclose what happened to him. We want to visit him and give him some books... we are closer to him than many people in the school. One girl told us about his hospitalization but she doesnt even know what he is sick with. They don't want to upset the kids.

But jeeze, it's really not sounding good. It breaks my heart, because God forbid anything happen to him... Lily's world will be turned upside down. She loves that man and he got her into choir.

What on Earth could someone be sick with that long?

Cancer more than likely

what difference does it make? he's allowed his privacy. Is he accepting visitors? focus on him and not what he has.

I would say cancer

The difference is we are worried and we dont know what could make someone so sick. I honestly dont think he'd keep cancer from us. Literally, this guy calls us when he needs ANYTHING knowing we will do it for the school. We were doing a lot of favors and errands for the school because he was doing them but couldnt. The choir program was almost canceled for the youngins and we stepped up and have helped him for 3 years because it meant so much for the kids. Yes, he is allowed his privacy and I never said otherwise. But we care about him greatly and he's Lily's favorite teacher and our relationship extends beyond just parent and teacher. We know things about him that he can't tell the rest of the school. He's very open with us but he stopped really talking to anyone when he got this sick. We are just worried, that's all. He won awards for his teaching, he's well known in the state. We love him greatly and hope he gets better. I mean I am coordinating the Valentines party and even before I knew how dire the situation was I am having each kid make a custom card for him, just to raise his spirits. I wanted to deliver it to him in a nice package with stuff from the kids and books and food, but now that we know he's in the hospital and still not eating... we are just worried. Thats all.

I truly didn't mean that to be mean... was just saying not to focus on the illness. It really doesn't matter. It's sad, but knowing what is wrong won't help. He obviously doesn't want anyone to know.

Sorry, it's just sensitive for us because we really do care about this man greatly. We know things about him that no one... seriously no one.... in the school knows. The administration probably knows but it sucks he can't be more open.

Like... he is gay and has a "husband" and their two "kids" are his beloved pups. He cant bring his partner to the school or be open because he is worried parents wont let their kids be in the music programs. So he said "Kids need music, so if that means I cant openly be me, thats okay. I dont want to turn them away from music." Its sad. So he talks to us in private about their kids and his partner, and we were going to invite them over for Thanksgiving. But he became sick... so ya know it couldnt happen. We love him greatly, and he is a WONDERFUL teacher. Very high strung, he made me cry once ;) lol but hes a great man. He says he feels at home and at peace when he hears the kids sing and play music. And now his concerts were canceled, the choir program was put on hold, ugh... it just sucks. His lifeline is that school and it sucks to not have him there.

I just hope he gets better. He's been sick for so long, he's a wonderful teacher, was on the news for winning a teacher of the year award... he is just a lovely man. And he gets the kids SO excited about music! I mean Lily came home and said "Would you allow me to be in choir? I really want to join it" and my heart melted. He gave Lily a solo last year and I cried   I just hope he's okay, because it will devastate me, but even more so.... Lily. I seriously think it would break her spirit if anything happened to him.

My Mom was honestly wondering about AIDS too. He was SO healthy before though, and he leads an active and healthy lifestyle. He eats well, works out, hes very active with the school... it's just a shock to us because he really was so healthy! And then its like the next day.,.... hes on his deathbed
