Tantrums at the Park :(

Lately my baby has been getting so frustrated when I take him to the park...other kids bring toys he wants to play with....he is 14 months and doesnt understand really why he cant. I have been redirecting him but he gets more pissed off and screams  .

Today he cried because he couldnt play with this kids truck....he kept wanting to climb UP slides....he wanted to play with another kids scooter....he wanted to walk near a drop off by the creek ....Finally I just took him to anopen field withthe ball I brought him...he was kicking it and being happy till a couple teens came over with a football and he was like "BALLLLL" and I had to pull him away from them -___-....
He had a melt down again so I just took him home. I really dont want to schedule park time around other random kids...Idk how to go about this...help?

I understand why you don't want him just running g over to strangers and taking their stuff. I went thru the same thing with my son. I had to get over my social anxiety and introduce myself to some of the parents and let the kids play together. You have to teach him manners about how to ask ( or reach, if he can't talk well) for things and play with other kids. This is normal for his age.

Thats a good idea...I mean some of them were too old and playing rough but someothers were like 2 or 3. He is really picking up words so I will try to get him to say please...he knows thank you haha.

I guess he is so used to him being the only kid and toys always available...
I felt so bad for him today....just not his day  

My LO is like this too, he just WANTS and doesn't get boundaries. I'm just trying really hard to be patient and if something is too much for him to handle we'll leave or I'll take it away and try again another time. It's exhausting.

  it is exhausting....Part of me was like REALLY!? We're at the park and you stillll get frustrated *sigh* ....reminds me of his Dad hehe

Yep, that's how I feel. I think partly it has to do with them being non-verbal. They can't really understand or communicate their desires, hence the tantrums. Really looking forward to logic! lol

Haha yeah...I just finally got my son to sleep after an hour of him fighting it and throwing mini tantrums...he screamed and cried and kept saying different words...I'm trying to reasses and think how I could've made things easier for next time around...::sigh:: poor kid
