It's smurfing ridiculous..

Pardon my language...But my 2 month old son, born at 36 weeks, has RSV. When it's time to eat, he screams in pain because his throat hurts. His eyes are watering, he can hardly breathe through the snot in his nose and running down the back of his throat...

He sleeps in an upright position, I use his inhaler when he starts coughing, I was using baby ibuprofen but I found out baby tylenol is better so I just picked some up, the vics vaporizer is constantly going, and I've been using saline drops and his bulb syringe...I know I just have to give it time, but I hate seeing him so miserable.

He started to have retractions ever so often this morning so I took him back to the ER, a different one. They checked his oxygen levels and they were fine, but his pulse rate was fast. They sent me home and told me to keep an eye on him.

I called his doctor for a follow up appointment. (His doctor has horrible reviews from hundreds of women and all of them women I've talked to..I am in the process of finding a new pedi.) The conversation went like this: "He has a 2 month check up Tuesday of next week...That can be his follow up, too. Thank you, buh bye." and she hung up on me!!

My baby is in pain, can hardly breathe, and I can tell he's miserable...Yet, they just keep blowing us off. I know how dangerous RSV can be, especially in a baby his age. A friend of mine has a nephew that is 3 months, was diagnosed last Monday, continuously sent home, and by Thursday was life flighted to another hospital after he quit breathing and is currently on life-support.

What would you do?

I'd show up at the doctors office or the ER.

Find a different pedi, faster. It isn't hard. Ask around, look online, open the phonebook.

I'd beat down on every doctor's door, or hospital until they took me serious. That's the only thing to do, right?

Go to a different ER. I know the ER where I live sucks ass and you have to pretty much be a bitch and demand they do something.

And some doctors may take him if you call and tell them what's going on.

Every one I have called does not have any openings for AR Kids first, which is the insurance he has. :/

Well, I went to the one in my city and the one in the next city over (where my grandma is at and they almost killed her.) There is another hospital, Mercy, which we will be going to next if he has another episode of retractions.

I would definitely go to an urgent care clinic or another ER. I hope he's doing better soon!

Where in Arkansas do you live? If my baby was that bad (especially with him being a premie) I would be going anywhere and everywhere and be demanding they do something to help him.

Go to a different ER, 1st DD got RSV when she was a week old and spent 3 weeks in the hospital. That young i wouldn't feel safe just keeping him at home, we almost lost DD because they thought she was over the worst part of it and it had barely started, she ended up in a breathing tent for 2 weeks and then had breathing treatments for 6 weeks after we were finally released.

Van Buren. We went to the one in town and Sparks in Fort Smith. I can bet I'll probably be at Mercy before the end of the night.

I'd be heading there now, or go to maybe Fayetteville if it's not too far. Maybe the hospitals there would be better and would help you more.
