re: Selfish for not terminating pregnancy with fatal abnormality

This is a hard one. Personally, I don't think I would terminate just because the child may not live through birth. I just think I would love my child to much. So yea maybe it is a little selfish, but it is a personal decision that no one has the right to judge, IMO.

I don't think its selfish. I would do the same thing and hope for the best, even if it's just a few mins with my child.

Its so nice to see so many non judging people today on BG!

It's such a catch 22 for me and i'm thankful everyday that I never had to make that choice.

I don't it is selfish. I think it is heart-breaking either way.

If you can handle giving birth and dealing with losing the child in your arms, then do it that way.
If you don't want your child to suffer, then do it that way

It no place to for someone to judge what the other person can and can not handle.

I am so thankful I have not had to make this decision. No this isn't selfish.

dont think its selfish in the least and i am beyond thankful that ive never had to make that choice i know ill hug my boys a little harder now  

not something I could do ... I would absolutely terminate for a debilitating defect or a major congenital issue (my mother scanned a woman yesterday whose babies brain hadn't developed at all, there was just some fluid in the skull). But if others think they can handle it then more strength to them.

I've been told by a few people that I was selfish for interupting my pregnancy with Nolan. I had my reasons and felt that (for me) continuing the pregnancy to the end was only for my benefit and I didn't want him to potentially suffer just for me. Other people would feel differently and act differently and that's fine.

At that point in the game, it's all a crap shoot. If you come out of it sane, kudos to you...I damn near didn't.

We are selling the house and I'm training a person to take my job in a couple of months and....it's a lot.

I think I'm just ready to know what I'm in for and do this already!

I'm excited to hear how it goes! The end is in site for us. His last day is is March 31st 2014 (assuming he doesn't fail a rotation or has to take a month off. But I don't see either one of those things happening)

He has his 1st and 2nd choice audition rotations set up (Both in FL) and he only has 2 Surgeries, 2 Emergency med, and 1 psych till he is done with 3rd year.
