re: Critical moms on this site!!!

If breastfeeding isn't an option, than no one should feel guilty about formula feeding. However, it is common knowledge - NOT a matter of opinion - that breastfeeding is far superior and that breastfed babies are, in general, healthier than their formula fed counterparts. If you can't breastfeed, than yeah, formula is the next step. I'm not anti-formula, I'm anti-hungry babies. But when people don't even attempt to breastfeed and say formula is equal? No. Not at all.

Idegaf about the formula. The convo was about rice cereal. Don't know why she's shooting off from that.

I'm pretty sure at this point that we're dealing with a troll who is TRYING to start arguments, to be honest. I don't think that anyone with even the most BASIC, public education in a poorly funded area could possibly grow to be this much of a moron.

I couldn't breastfeed either, and even I know that Breast is best. I hated having to give DD formula. HATED it. I STILL feel guilty that we had to settle for formula. Adding cereal to the bottles is not only nutritionally detrimental, it's also a choking hazard. The fact that you use hunger as a reason for doing something so unrecommended is astounding to me. And don't use the 'Well reflux babies use it so it's ok!' bullsmurf, my DD WAS a reflux baby, and we still limited her cereal intake to what she could get from a spoon, twice a day. NEVER in her bottle unless she was having REALLY bad episodes where she would not hold her food.

Then I apologize for that bit, even though I never said you did, I said what we refused to do. I still think giving an infant cereal without a diagnosis of reflux from the pedi, just because 'oh he's really hungry' is ridiculous.

There were other reasons for it as well, but then again you never asked, just assumed. You dont know me or my situation or where i am from, so dont pretend to know me.

LOL You SAID it was because he was hungry and bottles wouldn't fill him up! YOU said it, no one had to assume anything. If it's not reflux, then there's no reason to be giving an infant cereal at that age. The only time it's recommended is for reflux. If your child had that, you'd have said that from the start to get the people off your back.

Nope. Reflux is a genuine reason to give a child cereal, because it can keep the child from needing prescription meds. Many moms here have done it. But by all means, keep backpedaling.
