due dates

had my midwife appointment today and was told that women who already have previously had children dont tend to go over there due dates.. ? i thought this possibly cant be true... its just pot luck when you go into labour. however ive not really looked at satistics or anything but.. would you agree with this statment??

No. My first 2 were early. My 3rd was 4 days overdue.

Eh no. At least in my experience. My first was 3 days late, my second was 8 days late.

Definiitely not true. Both of mine were late, and all 4 of my mom's were very late.

Pot luck? Who's having a pot luck? What should I bring?!  

First-time moms are more likely to go overdue than women experiencing a subsequent pregnancy, but it's all just statistics, not the golden rule. I'll just use my mom as as example. Her first (me) was a week late, her second was 10 days late (had to be induced), her third was 3 weeks early, her fourth was 2 days early and her fifth was late (had to be induced). It's all just random.

honestly thats what i thought.... it all just happens when it happens.
i thought it was a silly thing for a midwife to say however i wasnt going to argue with her. i was first born... 4 weeks early and my mothers last child (4th baby) was 2 weeks over due and she was induced.. i walked out thinking what sort of midwife do i have.... she even said she would do a cervical sweep on my due date! ugh.. though i had to wait untill at least 2 weeks being over due?
