Several questions from a mommy-to-be..

posted 4th Feb
I'm 21 weeks pregnant and as the big day gets closer, people are asking me more and more questions about what my plans are for my baby girl. This is my second pregnancy, but because my first one didn't make it, I didn't have to think about these things because I didn't have much of an option. I had a c-section with my first one because of complications, and I thought that meant I'd have to have a c-section with this one, but apparently that's not the case. I kind of want a c-section with this one because I'll know what to expect, but everyone's told me a vaginal birth is a lot easier because you heal faster and just feel better afterwards (any opinions from anyone who's had both?). People are also asking me about breast feeding.. I never had to feed my first one because he was here for such a short time, but I know breast feeding is always the best option for a baby. Call me narcissistic, but I'm afraid my boobs will get weird and saggy if I breast feed (has this happened to any of you?). I've also been considering the option of using cloth diapers. I know quite a few people who have used them and gave up on them because it was too much to deal with, but I also know a few people who were using disposables and switched to cloth and swear by it because of how much money you save (I'm always down for saving dough!). My fiance's mom says if I do decide to use cloth diapers, I should use disposables for the first few weeks until the umbilical cord falls off. Any opinions? Thanks ladies!

Pregnancy will make your boobs saggy, Not Breastfeeding, and not wanting to ruin your boobs is a really smurffy and selfish reason to choose not to give your baby the best possible start in life. Not to mention, if you're looking for ways to save money, formula is ridiculously expensive and breastmilk is free.
I have not had a c section but a friend of mine just had her first vaginal birth after two c sections and she is so grateful she got to do it. She said the birth was a muh more replaxed experience, baby was happier than her first two right after birth, Breastfeeding was 100x easier this time around, and she said she felt back to normal a few days later (aside from the bleeding) as opposed to a few weeks later with her sections. If you have the option, I would strongly recommend at least trying for a vbac this time.
And cloth diapering is not for everyone but it is better for babies skin, tends to make potty training easier, and is a whole lot cheaper. The cord stump does not matter at all in your decision to cloth diaper or not.

I honestly thought breast feeding made women's boobs sag, I didn't know it was pregnancy, but this is my second pregnancy and I think mine still look fine lol I'm just self-concious about how my body's going to change, although it really didn't change much last time (but I know each pregnancy is different). I was planning on breast feeding either way because I know how much better it is for the baby, and I'm not that selfish of a person, I just wanted opinions from other people to see how it affected them. I've never had to breast feed, so I don't know what to expect.
And yeah, everyone's been telling me to go for a vaginal birth if they give me the option. Last time I healed pretty fast from my c-section, and I was considering getting one this time just because I'd know what to expect, but because I'll actually have a little one to care for afterwards, I think I'm going to try a vaginal birth so I can heal faster and be on my feet a lot sooner than last time.
I heard the same about cloth diapering, way less diaper rashes (if any) and they're a lot easier to potty train because they always feel it on them and don't like it (who can blame them?!). The reason my mother-in-law said to use the disposables for the first few weeks is because they don't come up as high as the cloth diapers and they won't rub against the cord and irritate the baby, which makes sense..

Thats actually not true about cloth/disposable diapers.
I Used disposables with my daughter and they came up high enough to rip it off way sooner than it should have come off. It was a bloody mess for 6 weeks. A lot of newborn cloth ones have little sections in the front that fold over and snap down to avoid irritating the cord.

Awesome, I'll probably give em a shot. If I don't like it, I can always switch (but what's not to like about saving money?!).
