Uh, what's with the hostility? I was just trying to provide you with some little known benefits of breastfeeding. There's not much to know about formula. Things CAN happen, but these things, like the above poster, are very rare, and less than 1% of all women at any time do not have the ability to produce a sufficient amount of breastmilk.

I guess you missed the numerous citations of medical research studies?

I wasn't being hostile.

I was letting you know that I read that, but also that some of it wasn't true, and that it was all medical fact. I just said I need to know more about formula, that was all about breast milk and benefits to baby and mother there were only a few very vague things about formula like formula feeding a baby girl will increase breast cancers risks in the future? That's all. That is not a proven medical fact by any means.

Literally all of that information is accurate.

Must have but some of the more ridiculous ones did not have those medical studies attached I'm not shooting down your advice I'm saying I don't need that advice I need advice on formula lol. Thank you though I wasn't being hostile sorry If I came off that way. You came off a little bit strong with the breastfeeding but I asked about formula

DD had Similac Soy when she was a baby and DS is on Similac Advance and does well on it. I tried to breast feed DS, but I ran into supply issues after he was life flighted for ALTE (apparent life threatening event) because of the 3 hour drive that i I was unable to pump during and all of the stress that comes with a hospital stay. Then we were in an accident in October which caused my supply to go away totally.
Things happen, so it's wonderful that you're preparing.

I was being hostile towards the formula industry preying on new moms. I got the same stuff in the mail the other day and I'm not even expecting. I was just disgusted at how they send expecting moms full samples of what? -- the formula to "soothe excessive crying" (totally normal part of having a newborn) and the "gentle" formula (every newborn's stomach is sensitive). It just makes me angry lol.

I'm sorry for the stress that must have brought on. Thank you. I want to be prepared on every front and because it's such an impossible task I go over board trying to do what I can.

With my first two I used Enfamil. But that was what WIC supplied so that's why. With my last two, when I had to use formula I used Similac Advance. I tried giving my youngest Enfamil once and he threw up everywhere, it was awful! Things do happen to where you can't breastfeed. My youngest wouldn't quit biting me. Finally I couldn't take it anymore, so he was but on formula around 5 and a half months. I was so upset but he just wouldn't stop biting me.

What I dislike is all the ffing paraphanelia that gets given out but when do you get nursing pads or bm storage bags in the mail? It's saddening for me.

I got those too from the hospital. They were in a little diaper bag thing with some
Ice packs and a travel cooler thing. Of course I used them to bm haha. But they're not like really a breastfeeding product perse. Those hand me outs from dra and hospitals used to have formula in them. But the haopital I delivered at is pro Bfing so maybe that's why theirs didn't have any in it. But I was given a ton of formula samples from my dr and hospital with dd1. I couldn't believe it.

I might do enfamil I used it with my first and she did not have problems its funny how tre is ARE different kinds of formula I thought it was all the same .I wonder why. I was like you with this pregnancy I really wanted to breastfeed but knew well that maybe she might not like it .my first was given a bottle at hospital and then did not like my boob. I also had inverted nipples so it was tough to get her to latch and the shield she kept pushing my nipple out with her tongue. I gave up after pumping for two weeks that dried my breast up . Good news this baby girl is a boob girl . It's good to be prepared of Ur options! I read alot about how to breast feed took advice from moms who breasted watched youtube videos and I feel like that helped me. My first pregnancy I dint read anything I thout it was natural and would happen automatically like stick baby to boob and that's it. But nope even though I formula fed my baby is super smart and was never severly sick she did get some ear infections nothing too serious. Something to do in hospital is skin to skin and get baby to boob and ask for help if it does not work out good thing there is the option of next best thing formula . try a can and see how Ur baby reacts good luck !
