Quoting BrittanieY:" If i had a child with excessive rage issues and I was trying to channel that into an appropriate venue? ... [snip!] ... that are no-contact and involve similar actions. Wrestling would also be a good structured way for a physical contact sport."
Quoting Colt's mommy:" Or Karate/Martial Arts!"
Quoting Robbie's Incubator:" I... Can't imagine five-year-old cage fighting. o.O I mean, it sounds horrible, but funny at the same time because I just can't picture it seriously."
Quoting Lady GooGoo™:" They had a video. Might be able to find it on youtube"
Quoting Dean Winchester:" im all for learning tae kwon doe, etc.. teaching discipline and self defense but cage fighting? i mean ... [snip!] ... i guess could just be another form of any other karate. but if its like some fight club smurf.. come on now. lol poor kids."Well one thing about MMA is that it is MMA. Meaning, they would HAVE to learn at least two forms of martial arts before starting MMA style cage fights, ya know? And it makes so much more sense for a 5 year old to be in karate or similar as opposed to getting into a cage and just trying to punch the other kid in the face. There's no discipline in that, at least, not the kind a 5 year old would understand. I think it's much better to reserve that kind of sport until they are at least teens.

Quoting Dean Winchester:" oh i def agree. i was just throwing an option out there. lol my daughter will only be in tae kwon doe/hap ... [snip!] ... it. its important to know self defense and i know at 4 its not really needed.. but i would just rather be safe than sorry. :/"I think that's great! My Mom never let me do karate as a kid, she always said it was too violent, lol. DH doesn't want the kids doing anything violent, but I'm not opposed to things like that. I see where he's coming from but I disagree. I won't put the kids in unless they come and ask, and I guess if it comes to it DH and I will have to have a serious discussion about it, lol, I just don't see how simple self defense is bad as long as it's abundantly clear that it's not an okay to go starting fights and it's major reason is for excersize and self defense if it's really necessary.
