The Abortion Debate.

They've just had a debate on TV as they are trying to push to lower the legal limit of abortion in the UK. It is 24 weeks at the moment. As per usual instead of it being a debate about lowering the limit which it should've been it turned into just a for or against abortion with lots of mudslinging and all the usual hateful and emotive language. The TV Shows FB page always posts for people to join in on the comments and it is just thousands of comments of the same nature.

It will be 3 years since my abortion this August and although it is not something I wanted to do I do not regret it at all and it was the right decision. I think that is the first time I have seen such a large amount of people show hate about abortion and speak that way about it and it has just made me feel like smurf. I don't know why they couldn't have stuck to the original topic of time limit instead of "ban it all!!" and all the other BS.

I don't know if AS is the right place to post but it's really made me feel low about my abortion, to think so many people have such a horrible opinion of what I have done and I needed to vent. This is the only safe place I could do that without any nasty comments  


Had to add in ...... Just wanna throw it out that if you're coming onto any post in AS it is to give advice and support and that is all. No one needs to be adding in "Well I'm pro-life but...", "Well I would never have an abortion but.....", "Well abortion is fine but only before X amount of weeks because then it's a baby...."

Yes everyone has opinions however AS is a protected forum, people come here because it is a safe place and that language shouldn't be used here.

People are always going to give their opinion, whether they're for or against. It's your body and if you believe it was the best choice for you at that point, then you should take comfort in that  

None of those smurfs would have stepped in to help you if you'd kept the pregnancy. You made the right choice for you, don't let others make you feel bad for it.

It's coming up on 9 years since mine. I've never looked back and there's no damn way I could be a mom to a 3rd grader right now.

Thanks. I do and put in that situation again I would do the same but Urgh I think just seeing thousands of hateful comments not even about the original topic but just about abortion in general made me feel smurffy. That is the first time I think I've exposed myself to that and I didn't cope well with it

Yes you are right, that was actually brought up that if they want to ban abortion they should up the support for those people who are going to be having those babies but they didn't have an answer for it as usual.

I know had I continued that pregnancy I would be homeless just now

& OP, don't let ANYONE make you feel bad about your personal choice. It was your call & as much as people love to judge others about it they probably have no idea what its like to go through something like this. I wish people would give it a rest. Yes I understand some religious people will never stop but they are causing women so much pain for making a choice that was better for them

I would probably be dead. But that's not important, at least the baby would be alive

She wasn't being a bitch, I quite clearly state my reasons for posting in AS and it is because it is a safe place. A place were people can post about abortion with no judgement or negative opinions. So how you are saying you didn't notice it was in here I don't know. It is a protected forum.

I am not anti abortion. I didn't see this was in the abortion survivors otherwise I wouldn't even have commented. I only commented from what I read about the 24 weeks. So, I apologize if I hurt anyones feelings, sincerely.
