Drinking alcohol while breastfeeding

Someone I know has a 6 month old and is exclusively breastfeeding, but today during the Super Bowl I saw her consume maybe 3-4 drinks in the course of the day and still breastfed her baby. I have a 6 month old as well and I would never do that. Isn't that super dangerous?

Yes and very irresponsible.

You can drink and breastfeed. If you're safe to drive, you're safe to nurse. 3-4drinks over the course of the day isn't a lot.

Then she was probably fine. Alcohol and breast milk work the same way as alcohol and blood. Very little is absorbed into the milk, and it wears off just like it does the blood stream. If she's safe to drive she's safe to breast feed.

If you can drive, you can breast feed.. it's not irresponsible at all unless she is unable to care for her child.

As long as she wasn't pounding them back to back it was probably fine. If she had one every few hours it wouldn't really have much affect on her milk. If she wasn't showing signs of being visibly drunk then it was more than likely ok.

3-4 drinks in the course of a DAY will not harm her baby. If you are sober enough to drive, you're sober enough to breast feed.

Not after a single drink lol you can enjoy a small glass of eine and if baby needs to feed, still feed her.
