I have seen that photo before, hence the reason for me to be suspicious. I suggest if you don't know the whole story, you keep your mouth shut

Yeah maybe once in a blue moon there's a reason. I'm saying in general that people on here do that way too often and it can scare off new members. Its gotten out of hand.

How is it getting old? I dont want to be talking and building a friendship with fake people.... Have you NOT SEEN "CATFISH" and what crazy, smurfed up individuals are out there? I am not saying I am trying to gain some type of romance from anyone on BG, but a lot of us build friendships, and we deserve to know who is real and who isn't.

You generally give people the benefit of the doubt. Usually, red flags will come up and start warning you... but we can't "screen" every new member or harrass new people that come on this site. That's paranoia, and honestly, if I was a new member, it would freak me out.

It's nothing like catfish... lol. Those people have potentially life altering situations. This is a parenting site...... not a huge deal, IMO.

Targeting new members all the time trying to figure out if they are legit or not seems to have become a constant obsession. So yes it's getting old.

I've seen "women" steal pics, kill off their babies (because you can only lie about a child for so long), steal peoples life stories, kids pics, etc.... Smurf a new member getting "scared off" !!!! If they are REAL then they shouldn't have anything to be scared of. Common smurfing sense. You can't give people online the benefit of the doubt anymore. It's still a common link betweenthe two. Yes this is a parenting site, but we areall still humans and we create bonds with people. It doesn't have to be a life altering situation to affect you if you find out someone you're talking to has faked everything. I'd still be hurt. So I'd rather know before hand than be blindsided later on. And OP even said she had a reasonable reason to question the photo because she'd seen it before.
