Working mom and Homeschool?

posted 3rd Feb
Is it possible to work and homeschool?
I guess I've only ever heard of SAHMs homeschooling.
I'm a nurse and I'm planning on working 2 days a week (12 hour shifts) when I go back in a few weeks.
My baby has a long time to go before school but I'm already looking at options.
Our local public school is out of control with drugs and gangs and the private school here isn't much better when it comes to drugs, so I'm thinking homeschool might be a good option with lots of activities... for example we have a GREAT dance academy and many other team sports so she could get around other kids.
So do any of you mommies work and homeschool or know someone who does. Is it realistic?
Staying home isn't an option financially for us.

I have a friend who works nights, and then homeschools her kids in the afternoons. She plans to send them to a private school once the homeschool days would get too long, but for now in the early years it only takes a few hours and so she manages to make it work. homeschoolreviews.com (I think is what it is called) I've seen women on that particular forum who work as well as homeschool, you may get better answers there!

My mom homeschooled my sister and I for a couple years. She worked full time 3-11 as a RN. We did a program though that have videos of actual classrooms. It was still a lot of work for her. We ended going back because she had surgery and ee just stayed in public schools since then. Idk if that helps lol

You'd be surprised! I helped with a field day with the 2nd and 3rd graders and those children were talking about "popping pills" and sexual acts that shocked me!

Did you like homeschooling? Did you ever feel like you were missing out on anything while you were doing it?

I ACTUALLY found a board of nurses who homeschool! Thank you so much. It will really help with making a decision!

well my mom started it in middle school. I think if she did it from the start I wouldn't have hated it lol also we went to a homeschooling group once a week to do crafts and gym class activities. ..I liked that. I get stir crazy easily so that also may effect why I didn't like homeschooling in general
