Naturally Inducing Labor at Home

posted 3rd Feb
I'm 39weeks pregnant and my due date is just 2 days away. My boyfriend and I can't wait for our little boy to be here. I'm 1cm dialated and almost completely thinned. We've tried having sex and I have had crampy feelings all day but nothing else has happened. What are different natural and safe ways to get labor going? We really do not want to have to get induced.

Nothing will work unless your body and baby are ready to go into labor.

You still have two weeks before you even need to think about an induction. Sex, walking, bounce on a ball, talk to your doctor about a membrane sweep. Nothing will put you into labor just help move things along if they are already started.

Natural and Induce do not go together. You cannot 'naturally induce' labor, since inducing labor is forcing labor to start when it's not ready.

You do not HAVE to get induced. You are more than able to tell them no. I suggest being patient and waiting for labor to start on it's own. If you want to try and get the ball rolling without 'induction techniques', try walking, bouncing on a birth ball or something similar, more sex, and just being active.

Walking probably is all that would help at this point but it'll happen soon anyway so you could probably just rest, you'll need it.

Nothing will work. Baby will come when baby is ready. Your due date is just an estimate.

You don't HAVE to get induced.
You still have those two weeks. Don't try to rush the baby out just yet!

Google nipple stimulation, before pitocin was invented nipple stimulation was the way that doctors induced labor. Breastfeeding causes contractions that shrink your uterus after delivery, by mimicking breastfeeding you can start contractions. I would def talk to your doctor before you do anything to make sure that it is safe for you and baby before you try it!! I believe baby will come when he/she is ready, but I understand the anticipation as I am preggo with my 4th, good luck on a safe delivery

Man - you got off pretty easy with this question lol

I see that this is your first post....people on this site aren't very fond of this question. It's asked ALL the time, and the answers area always the same. I'm surprised you didn't get your head bitten off

But it's true. If your LO was ready to come out, she would be coming out on her own. Unless you have a medical reason....which it doesn't seem like you do, just wait it out. You've made it this far...you can make it another week or two!
