re: 2 "when did you" questions.....

First child both at 5 months. He didnt really use the sippy until about 6 months.

Second kid sippy at 5 months and never did baby food. We skipped it altogether and went straight to table food. She is an amazing eater too. Super foody! She loves everything and will try anything. My.son, on the other hand, is a super picky bird!

Quoting Jamie Horn:" Thanks ladies. My son will be 4 mons on feb 11th and he's acting interested in food the past 3 days or ... [snip!] ... I've also seen some sippy cups that says for 4 mons+ and didn't know if I should try it here soon. I appreciate the replies!"
IMO the earlier you introduce a sippy cup the better. I waited until like 6 or 7 months with my oldest and it was so hard to get her off the bottle. As for solids the AAP recommends waiting up the baby is at least 6 months because their digestive tract needs to develop and they need to be able to digest the food. If you do decide to not wait I highly suggest using oatmeal or a whole grain like brown rice instead of the plain white rice cereal.

1. When did you give ur LO a sippy cup?
DS: 11 mos (I procrastinated)
DD: 6 months (used the Nuby ones at first and she LOVED them)

2. When did you start baby food??
DS: 6+ months (don't remember exactly)
DD: 4.5 months but it didn't go all that well and we tried again at 6 months which went MUCH better

I use regular rice, but my son loved oatmeal so we switched over to that! As for starting solids do your research & talk to the pedi before making a decision. I chose to still start early but it isn't for every baby.

If anything I think I would be interested in the baby oatmeal I will have to do a little research on it. I also believe starting the sippy sooner than later is better I love the NUK sippys that is the brand of bottles and pacis he uses so I may have to invest in one of the trainer cups.

I started solid foods at 6 months.
She's 8 months now and I've given her a sippy cup to try a couple of times but she didn't really get it.

The NUK cups is what we started with and they were fantastic. My daughter was full off the bottle by 11 months and thats only because she got sick the week we took them away so I gave them back until she was over it. Also look into baby led weaning. I did the cereal and baby food with my first and BLW with my second. BLW was by far easier cheaper and I fully believe much healthier. This is a fantastic website for feeding babies no matter what method you go with. http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/solids.htm

Give it to her more often. It is something they have to get used to in order to use. I gave DS his at 4 months every day and he didn't fully get it until around 5 1/2 months...it's like a toy, they have to figure it out.
