It must be a boy thing

I don't have boys so I don't get it

there are 4 boys play fighting outside of my apartment window. I have no clue who they are

And thier play fighting is serious smurf. Kicking and punching and stuff. Looks painful

But they are all laughing and having a good time.

I don't get it

Neither do I. And I have a boy. But then again, I dont like him playing like that.

It's not a boy thing. My girls will have those kinds of "fights" and it only turns into crying when someone gets their eye poked.  

my sons think they are ninjas and boxers. the play fight all the time. body slam and all. boys love it.

I used to do that with my boy cousins and my brother   We'd play Power Rangers and stuff like that.

I playfight with Cora, but not to the extreme these kids are. And if she gets even the tiniest bump or bruise, she dissolves into tears

its a boy thing. thats how they socialize

my nephews are 6 and 8 and they beat the ever living crap out of eachother. typical walk down the street:

my husband, BILs and their friends "play" fight all the time. i had my husband's cousin staying with me for a week when he was on leave from Iraq, and he and my BIL went out together.. they came home bleeding all over, head kicked in, all smurfed up.... they beat the hell out of eachother "out of love" --- i was patching up grown men for the better part of an hour!
